Favorite Character Friday: Samara Mallick

FCF has changed! I think there are way too many great characters out there to limit them to just books so start talking about your favorite characters from movies, tv shows, AND books. Show me your favorites!

Favorite Character Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Adria's Musings & Reviews that gives readers a chance to celebrate their favorite characters, because with millions of books, tv shows, and movies out there and more coming out constantly, characters are like potato chips, you can't have just one.

How it works: Every week highlight one of your favorite characters. Be sure to include where they’re from (Book, TV Show, Movie) as well! Share the love and maybe someone will check it out and see why that character is one of your favorites! Unlike the Book Boyfriend meme (which was a great meme), your Favorite Character Fridays choice can be male or female and can be from TV or Movies!

Favorite Character: Samara Mallick

Where Can We Meet This Character? The Last King by Katee Robert

Why is this character your favorite (Feel free to include a favorite quote or scene)? Samara is a total badass. She’s a successful career woman who has tons of ambition but is still a good person at heart. She can crush her opponents one minute, and the next she can help someone that is going through a difficult time. She’s tough but not mean, vulnerable without being a doormat. I love her take-no-prisoners attitude when it comes to her career and that’s another thing! Samara is an honest to goodness career woman. She has survived and thrived in what is usually a male dominated, very cutthroat field making her different from the usual heroine.

Samara owned her life and her sexuality, two things that more heroines need to do. She didn’t need or want Beckett riding to her rescue when she was perfectly capable of handling things herself. It didn’t mean she didn’t get scared or that everything always came out her way, just that she wasn’t a damsel in distress that needed a man to show her how life really works. I really loved that she was a partner to Beckett and not some pretty arm candy that wanted to be taken care of like some princess. She demanded respect, honesty, and affection from Beckett and that’s what she got. She’s one of my favorite heroines ever and I’m not surprised she’s from a Katee Robert book.

Beckett leaned his forehead against hers. “Are we moving too fast?”
She pressed two fingers to his lips. “I’m fucking you tonight, Beckett.”
He didn’t move. “You had a lot of tequila.”
She smiled before she caught herself. Who would have thought that Beckett King had an honorable streak? He wasn’t the biggest dick in their industry, but she’d always found him to be ruthless with a single-minded intensity when it came to pursuing foreign bids. She didn’t know what drove him—and she didn’t care—but honor didn’t come into the equation. Until now.
“I’m buzzed, but not enough that I can’t consent.” When he didn’t move, she kissed his jaw and hooked her fingers into his slacks. “Touch me, Beckett. Kiss me. Fuck me.” She punctuated each word with another kiss.

Book Cover/Blurb:
Beckett King just inherited his father's fortune, his company-and all his enemies. If he's going to stay on top, he needs someone he can trust beside him. And though they've been rivals for years, there's no one he trusts more than Samara Mallick.

The rebel. That's how Samara has always thought of Beckett. And he's absolutely living up to his unpredictable ways when he strides into her office and asks for help. She can't help wondering if it's a legit request or just a ploy to get her into bed. Not that she'd mind either one. After all, she likes to live on the edge too.

But soon the threats to the King empire are mounting, and the two find family secrets darker than they ever imagined and dangerous enough to get them both killed.
