Product Review: Essie Gel Couture Nail Polish and Top Coat

I haven't painted my nails in such a long time I was afraid I had forgotten how!

Essie Nail Polish is a brand that I hadn't heard of before I got it for review via Influenster. The color I got is called Once Upon a Time, isn't that neat? The color itself is a pretty purple/blue/gray mix that draws attention but isn't a loud color. Coincidentally the color matches a few items in my wardrobe so double win!

This particular type of polish is the gel couture line, it has a top coat that you apply and it makes the polish look really shiny and pretty. It looked pretty in the bottle but how would it do once I applied it?

My main complaint with nail polishes has always been that they smudge and chip really quickly. I have a rambunctious dog and I can't spend a lot of time waiting around for my nails to dry and I don't want to worry that right after I put it on it will chip off playing around with my dog. With this polish though, I found that it not only dried quickly, but it didn't immediately start chipping after.

I even went to the Essie website to see what else they had and I lost about an hour looking at all the different colors they have in JUST the gel couture line! The shades of blue are enough to have me wanting to paint my nails all day everyday.

I will say that I've been out of the nail polish scene for a while so I don't know what you all might consider a fair price for a bottle of nail polish. Essie polish goes for $11.50 per bottle which I can foresee getting a bit pricey when you want to change up your colors constantly. Especially since you have to buy the top coat seperately. However if this polish has longevity I can see myself splurging once in awhile on this brand. Did I mention there are lots of really beautiful colors to choose from? You'll have to decide if they're worth the price.

Overall Rating: 4 out of 5.
