Tell Me Something Tuesday

Tell Me Something Tuesday is a weekly discussion hosted on Rainy Day Ramblings where a wide range of topics from books to blogging are discussed. Weigh in and join the conversation by adding your thoughts in the comments. If you want to do your own post, grab the question and answer it on your blog!

This Week’s Question: What are your goals for 2018?

This is a loaded question because most people have quite a few goals. I know I do. Some are super personal so I won't be sharing those but most of them aren't.

Set and maintain personal boundaries. This is my biggest personal failing and it wasn't until a therapist helped me realize that I had very few personal boundaries and that I wasn't assertive enough when it came to taking care of myself. I tend to let people in my inner circle take advantage of me and sometimes emotionally abuse and/or blackmail me. So with the help of some recommended books, I am learning to establish and reenforce personal boundaries.

Be more positive. I'm a realist by nature but I want to start being more positive. Not naive and not ignorant of things just more positive about how I face the situations I find myself in.

Stop rushing! Every day for about six years I have done nothing but rush to get things done by a certain time because I just didn't have time to do anything for myself. I have to not only stop rushing but stop caring if I get things done or not. All that rushing has aggravated my anxiety disorder to the point that my chest starts to hurt.

Make more time for family. I live with my mom in a room of a relative's house but believe it or not we don't spend a lot of time together because we are so busy doing things to prepare for the next day. We are physically in the same room but that's it. I want to change that because the bottom line is that I won't always have my mom but there will always be things "to do."
