Sale Blog Tour and Review: Blood Flame by Caris Roane (+ Giveaway)

About Caris:
Caris Roane is the NY Times Bestselling author of Paranormal Romance. She began her career with Kensington Publishing and for eighteen years wrote Regency Romance as Valerie King. In 2005, Romantic Times Magazine honored her with a career achievement award for her Regency Romance work. To-date, she has published eighty-nine books. Thirty-nine of those are paranormal romances. Most of her paranormal stories are self-published while several in the early days were penned for St. Martin's Press.

Though her stories conjure up hunky PNR warriors, like vampires and wolf-shifters, the romance is everything, including a satisfying Happily Ever After. Her hope is that the reader will come away engrossed in the lives of her tortured heroes and her worthy women as they wage war, as they make love, and as they face the tough issues of life and relationships!

Caris lives in the Phoenix area, in a growing town called Buckeye. When not writing, she’s a real homebody. She loves gardening, sewing, and cooking. She also enjoys creating jewelry and offers her handcrafted, PNR bracelet giveaways to her newsletter and blog subscribers. Her motto? Live the fang!

New York Times bestselling author, Caris Roane, presents BLOOD FLAME, the first book in the Flame Series. In this book, vampire Officer Connor of the Crescent Border Patrol tries to suppress his desire for the powerful witch, Iris Meldeere. Because the woman possesses the ability to kill him with the tips of her fingers, how can he possibly fall in love with her?

When a double homicide throws them together, he soon finds his deepest fantasies fulfilled as Iris succumbs to his seductions. But as they battle together to stay alive, and love begins to consume them both, will the witch be able to forgive the dark secrets of his past …

What’s it About? Vampire Connor is a member of the Cresent Border Patrol and has seen his fair share of violence but when a series of murders throws him together with a woman he has no business wanting, he’s in for a big surprise. Iris Meldeere is a witch who can kill Connor with a touch if she wanted to but her attraction to him and the feeling that he isn’t like others of his kind keeps her from doing it. While they investigate the murders together Connor and Iris give in to their attraction and find a dangerous enemy has their sights set on them.

Overall reaction to the story? Blood Flame introduced me to a new author and a a complicated world of reluctant paranormal creatures trying to survive. Overall I enjoyed this book and its characters, the pace was fast but not unreasonable and above all it was interesting. Connor was a vampire with a guilty conscience but at the same time he was powerful and charismatic when it suited him. He watched Iris from far until the moment he realized they were being thrown together. I enjoyed Connor, I’ve never encountered a vampire who worked as a Border Patrol officer for the supernatural realm. It put a new spin on things. In fact, Caris Roane created her own spin on the supernatural world and I did enjoy it.

Iris was a great character. She could stand with Connor and be a match against any enemy, same as Connor. I loved her kindness that was encased in strength and her determination to get to the truth no matter what. Together Connor and Iris made a formidable team and their attraction was quick to ignite. It was a case of insta-lust but with everything happening around them, I felt it suited the overall pace.

The story itself could get a bit tangled at times and in the beginning it felt like a major info dump that I kind of scrambled to make sense of. The buildup of tension as Connor and Iris got closer and closer to figuring out who was causing trouble had me on the edge of my seat and excited to see the story through to the end.

Click It or Skip It? Click It. Blood Flame was a fast paced, different type of paranormal romance with enjoyable characters and a passionate romance.
