Adria's crazy furkids
Adria: Hi Candace! I’m so glad you’re able to answer a few of my questions today, okay so one in particular I’m dying to ask!

But first, how are things in your part of the world?
Candace: Life is good. Thanks so much for letting me hangout.

Adria: Tell me a little about yourself, what do you like to do on your spare time when you’re not writing? Any furkids? I have four, three cats (Spencer, Amelia, and Orion) and a crazy dog (Hayley).

And don’t be shy about sharing a picture (or several) of yours!
Harley, Elvis, and Gizmo.
Candace: Spare time isn’t something I know anything about. LOL. Really. If I’m not editing, I’m writing. And I have a whole other side of my life that is TV and Film, so I don’t really get down time.

Oh, you want to meet my office mates? Harley is a Great Dane, Elvis is a Shih-Tzu and rules the house. Then there is Gizmo, who growls when you pet him but he’s the most lovable dog in the world.

Adria: You’re a new to me author and when I read All I Want is You I was so glad my resolution to try more authors paid off. In case there are some other newbies, can you share what All I Want is You is about?
Candace: Awww. That’s awesome! Thank you, and thanks for trying new authors.

Hawke has to find a way to get controlling interest of his company to protect his family. The only way he can do that is by getting married to Amy, a ballerina recovering from an injury. She has problems of her own, and Hawke is willing to help her out. It’s very much an opposites attract story. Hawke is an alpha male, but he loves his family so much. So he’s a tough guy with a heart.

Adria: Okay so here’s the question I’ve been dying to ask since I finished All I Want is You. Hawke comes from a large family of step siblings due to his father’s multiple marriages and he’s used to being in charge, but from the very beginning I noticed that Amy was his equal no matter what financial leverage he had. She didn’t take his crap, she was blunt, and she was confident. Are all your heroines like her? I just loved her to bits!
Candace: Thank you. I love Amy, as well. She has a lot of my personality, I think most of my heroines do. I’m the nicest person you’ll ever meet, or one of the nicest, but don’t mess with me or my family. You know? And no one is ever going to tell us what to do. We very much have that in common.

Adria: Another question I’m curious about, Hawke is pretty darn sexy, is he modeled after anyone in real life? Maybe you know where I can get one for myself??? *makes puppy dog eyes*
Candace: LOL I love that. Right? I think most women would love to meet their version of Hawke. He’s an amalgamation of men who have come through my life, most of them not romantic interests. I write enlightened alphas, or alphas who become enlightened. Strong men with a brain and a heart. There’s nothing sexier to me.

Adria: Is All I Want is You going to be part of a series or a standalone book because I have to admit to some serious curiosity when it comes to Hawke’s step siblings.
Candace: You do? That’s something I will take into consideration. I’d like to write the stories of his family. That would be super fun. If people are really into this story, then I will absolutely do more.

Adria: What is one embarrassing/funny thing people would be surprised to know about Hawke or Amy?
Candace: Hawke has a terrible habit of buying her sex toys just to make her mad.

Adria: If you had to pick a song for Hawke and Amy what would it be and why?
Candace: Anything by Rag n Bone Man, maybe Love You Any Less.

Adria: Whoa, I didn’t think I’d ask so many questions about your book and your characters… Can you tell I really liked it? Okay moving on to the last two questions!

Adria: Assuming that you have spare time, what authors do you enjoy reading?
Candace: Oh, wow. That’s like picking a favorite child. I read everything. Just about every genre and it depends on my mood.

Adria: And finally, thank you for answering my questions Candace, I really appreciate it. What are you currently working on?
Candace: I have another Brazen I just turned in, that’s not related to “All I Want is You.” I’m finishing up a young adult. And then I have another contemporary romance to work on. It’s a busy, busy time but I kind of love it. Thank you so much for having me!

Hawke Vance will do whatever it takes to protect the family business, even if it means protecting it from his own father, a man who's just gotten hitched in Vegas to wife number nine. Growing up seeing how much chaos wedded bliss creates, Hawke's sworn never to fall into the matrimony trap. But to get the all-important controlling shares of the company, he does need a wife.

Being caught skinny dipping is not the way ballerina Amy Powell planned to start her vacation. When the hot biker who catches her turns out to be the owner of the house she's staying in, she's mortified. But embarrassment soon turns to confusion and a good dose of lust when Mr. Sex on a Stick offers her the money she needs to save her brother if she'll agree to marry him and play pretend for two months.

Only this game of make-believe quickly starts feeling too real…

What’s it About? Hawke Vance looks like a bad boy with his sexy tattoos and his love for motorcycles but at heart he loves his family and the family business so he’ll do whatever it takes to protect both. When his father gets married for the ninth, Hawke decides to take immediate action to make sure his new stepmom isn’t going to take what doesn’t belong to her, but for that Hawke needs a wife. Luckily a candidate has landed in his path, or his pool. Amy Powell is on vacation while recovering from an injury but when she’s caught skinny dipping by the owner of the house she’s staying in, she’s anything but relaxed. When Hawke offers her money to help her brother in exchange for her hand in a temporary marriage, Amy agrees but puts in a few stipulations of her own, one being that even thought the marriage is fake, they’ll indulge in some very real sex.

Overall reaction to the story? A marriage of convenience romance is difficult to pull off in a contemporary romance yet Havens manages to not only make it believable but sexy and fun as well. She has a drop dead sexy leading man and a strong, witty leading lady which to me is more important than the leading man (sorry Hawke). Simply put, I LOVED All I Want is You. Candace Havens is a new to me author that I picked up on a whim and I’m so glad I did!

Describe the hero in five words: Alpha. Stubborn. Funny. Loyal. Considerate.
Did you like him? Yes.
Why? Hawke is all man, sexy, confident, a little bossy, and loyal to his family. I expected that but what I didn’t expect was his fun side. It’s subtle but he gives Amy a gag gift just to see how she reacts. That was something that added to Hawke as a character because I can count in one hand how many alpha males have a sense of humor. Most of them just brood and act sexy, and I’m not going to lie, Hawke can brood with the best of them and his sexiness is off the charts but he had a very sweet side to him too. And as he fell for Amy, he became absorbed in what made her who she was as a person. She wasn’t a thing to him or worse, a possession that he could mold into what he wanted, Hawke wanted to know her as a person, which was way more sexy to me than the brooding.

Describe the heroine in five words: Tough. Snarky. Smart. Talented. Fun.
Did you like her? Yes.
Why? I’ve never encountered a tough ballerina before in a romance. They’re always these prim, somewhat snooty characters who seem like they’ll snap in two if you say “Boo” to them. Amy was so not like that! I loved her spunky attitude! She was the complete opposite of what I expected her to be and it was awesome! She is totally what I want to see in a heroine who is at a bit of a disadvantage with the hero. Amy didn’t take Hawke’s crap and her reaction to his gag gift was priceless I tell you! I had so many moments where I was mentally cheering her on because she was so cool and badass! I can’t say enough good things about her, she was just so much fun and I could totally see why Hawke fell in love with her. She’s just one of those characters you wish you could be best friends with in real life.

Let’s talk about the romance: Hawke and Amy burn up the pages. Not going to lie, these two are so combustible together and that chemistry has a lot to do with Amy being the way she is. An alpha male needs an alpha female and dang if these two weren’t a match. But physical combustion aside, they genuinely spent time together out of bed where they just hung out. I loved those moments just as much as the ones where they couldn’t keep their hands off each other. It was easy to believe they were falling in love during those quiet moments where they were just being together, doing every day couple things like Hawke taking Amy on a tour of his business.

How about that supporting cast? Hawke and Amy are pretty much the only characters in All I Want is You but there are appearances by Hawke’s father and Amy’s mother who married each other and inadvertently set off Hawke’s crazy idea of a marriage of convenience to Amy. Hawke also has a number of step siblings but only a handful of them appear. I’m really hoping Candace Havens turns this book into a series and writes about Hawke’s step siblings because I find I’ve become emotionally invested in Hawke’s family. And I’m not kidding.
