An Open Letter to Lisa Kleypas

 Dear Ms. Kleypas,

I’ve never had a reason to write to an author about one of her characters until now. I’ve been a longtime fan of yours, in fact your Wallflower series was my introduction to historical romance and you have since set a high bar for me as a reader when it comes to them.

I know a lot of your fans must tell you this but Devil in Winter is my all time favorite historical romance novel and my go-to read when I’m feeling blue.

My print copy is barely hanging in there because I’ve read it so many times (I suffer from severe depression so I have A LOT of blue days) and I swear I could hear it scream whenever I come near it. So naturally I bought the Kindle version as well.

But I’m not writing to you to talk about Devil in Winter even though I can go on and on about my love for Sebastian and Evie.

I actually wanted to tell you thank you for creating a character like Pandora Ravenel.

I adore her! She’s so lively and has this wit, charisma and charm that is hard to find in historical romance. From the moment she stepps onto the pages in Cold Hearted Rake and then in Marrying Winterbourne she’s made me smile and laugh. There is just something magical about Pandora, she’s engaging and draws a lot of attention in the best way and I love that she has such an independent spirit and a mind for business. Books are super important to me because they help me get through the days and give me something to smile about when I desperately need to but at the same time it’s difficult to find books where the female character is someone to admire.

So thank you again for a character like Pandora. Even as a supporting character she makes my days brighter. I can only imagine what she’ll do for me as the main character in her own book. Pandora is one of two huge reasons I’m super excited for Devil in Spring. I can’t thank you enough for your stories and for characters like her. They mean the world to readers like me.

Your Devoted Fan,
