Favorite Character Friday: Aiden!

Favorite Character Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Adria's Romance Reviews that gives readers a chance to celebrate their favorite characters!

Why a weekly meme? Because really, with millions of books out there and more coming out every week, characters are like potato chips, you can't have just one.

How it works: Every week you pick one of your favorite characters and tell every one who it is, what book they're from and WHY they're one of your favorite characters. Be sure to include the blurb and book cover as well! Share the love and maybe someone will read that same book and see why that character is one of your favorites! Unlike the Book Boyfriend meme (which was a great meme), your Favorite Character Fridays choice can be male or female!

Favorite Character: Aiden Rowan

Book Title & Author: Leaving Lily Behind by Christine Wenrick

Why is this character your favorite (Feel free to include a favorite quote or scene)? You know I like the dark, brooding, intense heroes right? Well that describes only half of who Aiden is. Granted, I’ve yet to come across a character in one of Christine’s books that I didn’t like but Aiden is a special kind of dark and broody. He’s fighting to stay human but at the same time he knows that his transitioning could give his side the upper hand when fighting other supernatural creatures. Aiden is literally housing an internal battle: Human vs Vampire, Nature vs Willpower. It’s a tug of war that I found fascinating because vampire nature is usually super dominant yet Aiden’s human side was battling it constantly so he was one strong son of a gun.

He was all sorts of interesting and all kinds of sexy. Come on, read the book and tell me you wouldn’t want to be the focus of that intense gaze!

Book Cover/Blurb:

Aiden Rowan has made a choice he wishes he could have back. As a human guardian for The Brethren, he agreed to be part of a former Elder's super-soldier experiments involving vampire blood transfusions. His reasons for doing so were close to his heart, but the results are now costing him his humanity and slowly changing him into the lethal and dangerous creature he wanted to defeat - a vampire. Just when he thinks he's accepted his fate, a woman enters his life with the promis that she can help. From the moment Aiden lays eyes on Lily Abbott he feels lost in a good way - a human way. But can he trust himself now that he's changing? Refusing to allow the darkness growing inside him to ever hurt her, he chooses to leave Lily with the intention never to return.

Lily has many secrets, and some she must keep from the man she has come to The Oracle to save. What she didn't expect was to care deeply for Aiden, or be so affected when he refuses her help and leaves abruptly. But when she's attacked one night by another super-soldier, Aiden returns as quickly as he left. Once the two are reunited, the pair have an almost combustible chemistry, leading Aiden to question what brought Lily to The Oracle and into his life in the first place.
