Miles is Charlotte’s one and only weakness. He’s also her only hope…

To stop a Romanian crime lord and clear her name, British Intelligence officer Charlotte Carstons has no choice. She must track down former Navy SEAL Miles Duncan and ask for his help. Miles holds the key to completing her undercover assignment and proving she’s no traitor…but he also holds a grudge. Getting him to forgive her may be the most challenging mission of her life.

Charlotte is his fantasy woman. She’s also the biggest mistake of his career…

He was supposed to hunt her down. Instead Miles ended up at the mercy of the sexy, mysterious MI6 agent who left him without so much as a goodbye after their six-week love affair in the Carpathian Mountains. Back in the States and working as an operative for Shadow Force International, Miles has been searching for Charlotte ever since—and so has everyone else. She’s a traitor to her country and she may be responsible for the deaths of his SEAL teammates a year ago.

Together, they can save the world. Or destroy each other…

When Charlotte shows up on his doorstep asking for help, Miles knows better than to get involved. She's determined to go back to Romania with or without him, however, and he knows she’s walking into a deadly trap. Can he keep her safe as they travel across continents and explore the depth of their feelings for each other? Or will misplaced honor and treasonous loyalties prove fatal for them both?

A mission gone tragically wrong, a six week love affair that ended badly, and a lingering grudge is what Miles Duncan remembers most from his Navy SEAL days and it doesn’t help that the woman everyone believes is responsible for the deaths of his team a year ago is asking for his help.

MI6 agent Charlotte Carstons has no choice but to ask Miles for help to clear her name and stop a Romanian crime lord but with a sour past between them, working together might be more difficult than either anticipated.

I really enjoyed Miles and Charlotte’s personalities to be honest. They’re a little jaded, a lot suspicious, and very stubborn. Miles has a bit of a bitter edge to his personality that reared its head the more time he spent around Charlotte but it was battling with his strong attraction and curiosity about a woman he didn’t know much about. He definitely had that leader of the pack mentality and persona BUT I LOVED how well he worked when Charlotte was in charge. He wasn’t a complete control freak; he knew his strengths and his weaknesses so his self awareness was pretty irresistible. Not to say he didn’t want to be in charge in every situation but that he recognized situations when Charlotte was the best person to lead.

Similarly, Charlotte was used to being in charge, an alpha female, which in my opinion there aren’t enough of in romance, much less paired up with alpha males. She was more than capable of doing her job and issuing orders so I have to say in all caps: GIRL POWER!!! Charlotte’s willful personality put her at odds with Miles plenty of times throughout Fatal Honor but that’s what made the book more interesting to me. Obedient heroines are so boring and so are the ones who let the hero take charge all the time so having someone like Charlotte who was a natural leader in tough situations made me like her of course but it also made me like Miles more because he didn’t act like his manhood was being called into question because he was taking orders from a woman. It was more that he was used to being in charge and I have to believe Miles would have been just as difficult with another male character as he was with Charlotte.

Since both Miles and Charlotte are alpha characters, they didn’t beat around the bush or play games with each other, it was straight to the point which was pretty fantastic for the tension buildup but when it came time to deliver on the sexy times it was a bit blink and you miss it. Not that there weren’t any sexy times but they were understated. I expected a little more from those scenes simply because the lead up was promising what with all the tension and unresolved emotions between them. I will say that when it came to working together they were a great team. Each one taking turns leading the mission, Miles and Charlotte seemed to read each other’s minds at times, making their bond seem like more than just a physical one. I just loved their teamwork.

Overall I felt that Fatal Honor had more of an action/suspense type feel than the previous book and I really enjoyed that. This is a romantic suspense after all. I also felt like the Shadow Force International played a bigger role here than before. There were a handful of supporting characters that would make interesting lead characters, you know, for more books? *hint hint*

Final Verdict: With such strong willed leads, Fatal Honor was drastically different from its predecessor in my opinion. I have to give this book the edge because having Miles and Charlotte have alpha personalities made it way more fun.
