Review + Giveaway: Raphael/Parish (Bayou Heat #1-2) by Alexandra Ivy & Laura Wright

Format: epub (purchased)
Release Date: January 7, 2013

The brilliant and dangerous diplomat of the Pantera shapeshifters, Raphael has devoted his life to discovering the key to the infertility that is threatening the extinction of his puma race. Creating a vast network of spies worldwide, he never expected to discover that the answer might be beneath his very nose. But when Ashe, a beautiful human female, crosses his path, his most primitive instincts are stirred. Unable to resist, he takes her to his bed, and is shocked when she becomes pregnant with his child. It’s a miracle that might prove to be the salvation of his people, but only if he can keep her safe from the mercenaries determined to kill her.

Untamed and undeniably sexy, Parish, leader of the Pantera hunters, rarely leaves the magic of the Wildlands to deal with the humans he despises. But with the prized and risky Pantera birth on the way, puma shifter, Parish must travel to New Orleans to find and bring back a human doctor. The moment he sees the lovely, talented and all too human Dr. Julia Cabot he cannot resist the wild, potent drive to make her his. Betrayed and destroyed by love, Julia will not let her heart choose her path again. But as she and Parish fight to save the life of an unborn child, a fierce and overwhelming bond develops between them, threatening her frozen heart with the secret hope and ultimate temptation of love and family.

What's better than a new paranormal romance by a talented author? A new paranormal romance series by two talented authors! The Bayou Heat series has authors Alexandra Ivy and Laura Wright working their magic in a new world away from their respective vampire series.

With animal shifters just as popular as vampires these days, Alexandra and Laura have decided to take on panthers

The Pantera (not the band) are facing extinction due to an inability to have children. The threat has forced the secretive shifters to implant spies worldwide in hopes of discovering the cause and cure. Raphael, a diplomat for his kind, is suddenly faced with a shocking discovery: A human female is pregnant with his child. Considered a miracle, Ashe and her unborn child suddenly become targets of mercenaries who will stop at nothing to kill her.

In the continuing story of Parish, the leader of the Pantera hunters, a human doctor must be found to deliver the first Pantera child in many years. Parish is a brusque, no nonsense shifter but when he meets Dr. Julia Cabot, he can't seem to think of any thing but making her his.

This book was, in a word, delicious. I read it in a single day and am eagerly anticipating the next one. Alexandra Ivy and Laura Wright make a great PNR team! Alexandra takes on Raphael's story while Laura tackles Parish. They keep both stories connected while still maintaining their individual writing styles.

Both shifters are deadly, sexy and addictive. I appreciated the brisk pace of both stories, explaining enough about the world of the Panteras while not bogging the stories down with unnecessary information. Not to be outdone are the women who fall in love with them. Ashe and Julia are definitely up to the task of making honest Panteras out of Raphael and Parish. The women are strong, fierce and intelligent, which makes for interesting clashes and enough chemistry to melt your e-reader.

Perhaps the only complaint I have about the first book in the Bayou Heat series is that it was too short. I know, they're a series of connected novellas but I'm greedy that way.
