Favorite Character Friday: Danielle LaCrosse

Favorite Character Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Adria's Romance Reviews that gives readers a chance to celebrate their favorite characters, because with millions of books out there and more coming out every week, characters are like potato chips, you can't have just one.

How it works: Every week you pick one of your favorite characters and tell everyone WHY they're one of your favorite characters. Be sure to include the blurb and book cover as well! Share the love and maybe someone will read that same book and see why that character is one of your favorites! Unlike the Book Boyfriend meme (which was a great meme), your Favorite Character Fridays choice can be male or female!

Favorite Character: Danielle LaCrosse

Book Title & Author: Never Trust a Pirate by Valerie Bowman

Why is this character your favorite (Feel free to include a favorite quote or scene)? I LOVE historical spy romances but more often than not it’s the man doing all the spying and the saving while the woman just gets to sit there looking six different kinds of impressed. However with Danielle, she’s the one doing the spying and the saving and best of all she’s doing it like a pro! She’s impressive in a way I’ve never seen before. She doesn’t simper, she doesn’t cower before Cade and her skills don’t stupidly fade away just because the big, strong man is a rumored pirate and devilishly charming to boot. Danielle is a survivor and a blunt one. She doesn’t blush at every silly thing and aside from one big weakness on her part; she can do pretty much everything Cade can which made her a superb partner and heroine for him. I loved her to bits.

She got to the door and paused. Her hand rested on the handle, but she didn’t turn around.
“You’re looking at my backside, aren’t you, Mr. Cavendish?”
Cade nearly spat his coffee. In a thousand years he wouldn’t have expected that question from the little slip of a maid, and he certainly wouldn’t have expected her to be reading his bloody mind.
“If I told you that I wasn’t would you believe me?” he asked instead.
“Not a bit,” she answered, pulling open the door, but he could hear the smile in her voice.

Book Cover/Blurb:
The rules of engagement were never so scandalous. . .
A rumored pirate and the scurrilous black sheep of his well-to- do family, Cade Cavendish relishes his world of rebellion, deception, and seduction. Nothing and no one can hold him to be the duty-bound, honorable man he is expected to be. But when an unexpected run-in at his twin brother’s estate with a ravishing, raven-haired maid leads her to believe he’s actually a viscount, Cade’s renegade life is thrown wildly off-kilter. And even though a case of mistaken identity can be quickly set to rights, matters of the heart are quite different…

Miss Danielle LaCrosse is startled to learn that the handsome gentleman who radiates sin and has the devil in his eyes is not her employer the Viscount, but rather his infamous brother. A former heiress, orphaned and left penniless, Danielle has more than a few secrets of her own. Cade may be skilled at coaxing even the most hidden desires out of Danielle but can he earn her trust―and win her heart―as they embark on an adventure to confront a dangerous enemy from both of their pasts . . . and uncover the identity of the so-called Black Fox along the way?
