I will never NOT want to talk about this series because it's been one of the highlights of my book loving life. Now with the second book out in audio it's like getting to experience the series all over again.
She lives in Australia with a young family who are well aware she's circling the drain of insanity.
Eden can't resist alpha dominance, dark features and sarcasm in her fictional heroes and loves a strong heroine who knows when to bite her tongue but also serves retribution with a feminine smile on her face.
Adria: Hi Eden! How are things on your side of the globe? My part of Texas is hot, dusty, windy, and mostly brown but that hardly changes so it’s nothing remarkable.
Hey Adria, thanks for having me. At the moment, Australia is starting to chill on the hellish heat we’ve had for months. I love this weather, warm enough to enjoy nature but cool enough that your boobs don’t sweat.
Adria: I am super excited that Passionate Addiction is getting the audio treatment! It’s kind of like meeting the Reckless Beat guys all over again and of course I have a soft spot for bad boy Blake. What is one thing people would be surprised to know about him?
Well, although Blake is the bad boy, tattooed rocker of the series, he’s actually one of the sweetest of the group. I guess he plays hard and loves even harder. There was never any waver in his feelings for his best friend, Gabi.
Adria: In case people aren’t familiar with the Reckless Beat series, can you tell them what Passionate Addiction is about?
Passionate Addiction is the second book in the Reckless Beat rock star series (the first, Blind Attraction is currently a free ebook download). PA is about Blake, the bass guitarist and Gabi, the woman who has been his online best friend through the hardest parts of his life. This book is when they finally get to meet for the first time. Their initial reactions. Their instant love.
Adria: What is one funny/embarrassing thing people would be surprised to know about Blake? How about Gabi?
Blake would do some pretty crazy things to make Gabi smile. Hell, he’d do anything. Ask him to strip and walk down the street naked - he’ll do it. Ask him to wax his brows or wear make-up on stage - he’d do that, too. He’s absolutely smitten when it comes to his cute Aussie.
Gabi is a more reserved. She’s got baggage and tries to keep level-headed most of the time. But give her one too many drinks and she’s the type to start table-top dancing.
Adria: I’m still a big time newbie to audio books but I love the fact that you have two narrators for Passionate Addiction it just makes the story jump out even more. How hard was it finding the right “voices” for Blake and Gabi? What was the process like?
Oh, my gosh, the process for this book was torturous. When a story has US characters, casting isn’t too difficult. There’s a lot of truly fabulous narrators out there with a lot of experience. But when you throw an Aussie heroine into the mix, the female narrator not only has to have an Australian accent but also a US accent to handle the rest of the American characters. Same goes for the male narrator. He needed to have a US accent but also be able to pull off the extremely hard Aussie accent, in a female tone. Then you have to think about the realism of the sex scenes… Gah!
I always planned to use the same male narrator for the second book. So, DC Cole and I worked hard to try and get the Aussie parts perfect. Then, after months of searching, I stumbled upon my female narrator by absolute chance. Straight away, before she even auditioned, I knew she would be the perfect fit for Gabi.
Adria: Passionate Addiction is the second book in the Reckless Beat series to become available in audio, can we expect to have ALL the books in the series available in audio?
You sure can. I’ve already contracted the narrators for Reckless Weekend (Reckless Beat #2.5). But I may wait a while to see if listeners are still enjoying them before I dive into novel 3.
Inarticulate, my standalone novel, is also in production at the moment.
Adria: You also recently had the last book in the Reckless Beat series, Undeniable Temptation, come out in digital and print in January, how did that feel? I know I wasn’t ready to let these guys go yet. There were tears, chocolate, more tears, and the occasional giggle snort while I was reading it.
Release week was more emotional than I anticipated. I hoped people would enjoy the final installment, however, I didn’t expect readers to message me telling me how devastated they were that the series was over. One reviewer made me cry, and believe me, I’m a tough nut to crack. I absolutely hate crying. One tear bursts free and it’s like the world’s ending. So, it turned out to be a more emotional and heartbreaking that I thought.
Adria: I know I’m not the only one who has and will continue to ask this question, that’s just a testament to how much this group of characters has come to mean to us fans! Is there a chance we’ll see the Reckless Beat guys and gals again?
I’m not setting anything in stone at the moment, but the next generation of Reckless is definitely in my mind. I think a series based on the kids of Reckless Beat would be fun. They’d have to deal with their parents’ success. They’d probably travel down the same musical path. Or hate musicians entirely. The possibilities are endless. But for now, I need a short breather to focus on my Vault of Sin series.
Adria: Okay last question Eden because if I don’t stop I’ll keep bugging you about Reckless Beat lol. Is there a sub-genre of romance or even a totally different genre that you’d like to branch out into?
Adria, I want to write in them all! I feel like I’ve shoved myself firmly in the contemporary erotic box at the moment and I’m not sure how to dip my toe into other sub-genres without upsetting readers. But I have plots written for sci-fi romance, paranormal and even epic fantasy. Hopefully, one day, I’ll get to share these characters.
Adria: Thanks so much for answering my questions Eden, I really appreciate it and I’m LOVING the audio versions of the Reckless Beat series!!
Thank you for having me! It was great to chat with someone who enjoys the Reckless men as much as I do. xoxo
I originally reviewed the The Book so this review will be about the narrators and my reaction to the audio edition.
Overall, I’m surprised and please with both D.C. Cole and Josie Minor’s narration of an already amazing book. They captured the personalities of the characters and really brought this romance to life.
