Throwback Thursday Review: Lucky in Love by Jill Shalvis

Throwback Thursday Reviews is dedicated to those books that have been around for awhile but you’ve only recently discovered (Or made time for). They’re the “New but Old” reads that are just too good NOT to talk about because there’s no such thing as “Too Many Books!”

This Week’s Throwback Thursday Book is: Lucky in Love by Jill Shalvis

Format: .mobi (Purchase)
Publisher: Forever
Release Date: May 22, 2012

Mallory Quinn has had enough of playing it safe. As a nurse and devoted daughter, she takes care of everyone but herself. And as the local good girl, she's expected to date Mr. Right. But for once, she'd like to take a risk on Mr. Wrong. And who could be more wrong than Ty Garrison? The mysterious new guy in town has made it clear that he's only passing through, which suits Mallory just fine. Besides, his lean, hard body and sexy smile will give her plenty to remember once he's gone . . .

For the first time in his life, Ty can't bear to leave. Helping this sexy seductress-in-training walk on the wild side is making him desire things he shouldn’t including leaving the military for good. As their just-for-fun fling becomes something more, Mallory and Ty wonder if they could really be this lucky in love. After all . . . anything can happen in a town called Lucky Harbor.

What’s it About? Mallory Quinn has a good reason why she plays it safe and is always a good girl but lately the good girl routine has been driving her crazy so for once she’s going to stop being the good girl and date Mr. Wrong. Enter Ty Garrison, the new guy in town who has absolutely no intention of staying in Lucky Harbor. The attraction is fierce, the chemistry hot, and the “fling” is starting to feel more and more permanent.
Yay or Nay? Yay!

Why? I struggled with the first three books in this series because I didn’t really care for the relationship between the three sisters but I’m glad I stuck with the series because Lucky in Love is exactly what I’ve come to love about Jill Shalvis! Mallory was sweet without being nauseating, but had a will of her own. I loved that while she was a “good girl” she wasn’t boring or mousy, in fact she was trying hard to hide her bad girl streak and the reason behind it was heartbreaking. I wanted to shake her family for the way the ignored how Mallory was being affected by the past and how suffocating her mother could be all while ignoring what Mallory really needed from her.

Ty was just… Yummy. All the way, good to the last drop Y-U-M-M-Y. It was nice to finally learn his name since in a previous book he was just known by the town as Mysterious Cute Guy. Lol I loved his reaction to finding out too. He had a great sense of humor and a good heart. Did I mention he was yummy too? He and Mallory had some great chemistry from the start and Shalvis kept it burning throughout the book. I never got bored with these two. Mallory’s impulse to walk on the wild side with Ty sure did lead them both on a merry adventure!

Lucky Harbor’s residents are addictive. I’m not usually a fan of small town romances because I just can’t stand nosy characters much less an entire town of them but the author managed to make them nosy enough to bring humor but not so nosy to where they’d annoy. My favorite resident remains Lucille though. She’s just so freaking adorable! She wears these flashy getups, and is basically a one woman paparazzi in the town all while telling it like it is. I can’t get enough of her!

Click It or Skip It: Click it. I loved this book, Mallory and Ty were an amazing couple and they come with a cast of crazy characters (Lucille).
