I have a deep love for Lara Adrian’s Midnight Breed series. It’s one of the few that I caught at the very beginning and have kept reading since then. I was so thrilled to be able to review the latest novella in the series!
Lara’s Midnight Breed series is available in hardcover, mass market paperback and e-book through Random House, and in limited edition through Doubleday Book Club, Rhapsody Book Club, Book of The Month, and the Science Fiction Book Club. The mission was supposed to be simple. Infiltrate an enemy’s stronghold outside Rome and eliminate its leader. For a Breed warrior as lethal as Ettore Selvaggio, AKA “Savage”, stealth assassinations are only one of his many cold-hearted specialties. But the last thing Savage expects to find behind enemy lines—in his target’s bed—is a woman he once adored.
It’s been years since Savage last saw beautiful Arabella Genova. Years he’s strived to banish to his past, along with the fierce desire he once felt toward Bella . . . and the irresistible calling of her blood that stirs in him even now, despite the fact that she belongs to another male.
But when fate throws Savage and Bella together again in a race for their lives, will his long-lost love prove to be the one woman he can’t live without, or the perfect weapon to destroy him?
It’s never easy for the Breed to keep the peace, especially when so many are eager to shatter the fragile truce between humans and vampires. Ettore “Savage” Selvaggio was sent to eliminate an enemy but instead is reunited with Arabella Genova, the female he once loved. Bella belongs to another male but when circumstances force Savage and Bella together, their attraction becomes too much to ignore.
Technically this is my second Midnight Breed novella and I’m so glad to say that Lara Adrian knows how to make a short story feel complete! I just LOVE this series so for a novella to have all the action, danger, and passion as the full length novels is superb.
New readers take note: Midnight Untamed can technically be read as a standalone, however the time frame in which the story takes place is years after certain big events have happened and the origin of the Breed has been discussed so some confusion may happen. I would highly suggest reading the entire series in order not just so you can get a better understanding of the current events but because the series is just so engaging and exciting. Plus there’s some stuff going down in this novella that will have a bigger impact if you’ve read the previous books.
Midnight Untamed offers just a small sample of what Adrian is capable of and if readers don’t mind reading a series out of order, it’s a perfect introduction to a vampire romance series that shows no sign of slowing down.
Final Verdict: Longtime fans should add Midnight Untamed to their e-readers ASAP so that they can also fall in love with Savage and Bella. New readers need to add this novella to their e-readers so that they can find out why longtime fans are so engrossed with the series!
