Favorite Character Friday: My love!

Favorite Character Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Adria's Romance Reviews that gives readers a chance to celebrate their favorite characters!

Why a weekly meme? Because really, with millions of books out there and more coming out every week, characters are like potato chips, you can't have just one.

How it works: Every week you pick one of your favorite characters and tell every one who it is, what book they're from and WHY they're one of your favorite characters. Be sure to include the blurb and book cover as well! Share the love and maybe someone will read that same book and see why that character is one of your favorites! Unlike the Book Boyfriend meme (which was a great meme), your Favorite Character Fridays choice can be male or female!

Be sure to link back to Adria's Romance Reviews and share the link!

Goodness but my allergies almost made me forget this week's FCF! I just HAD to give more attention to my latest book boyfriend...

Favorite Character: Edwin Barlow, The Earl of Blakeborough

Book Title & Author: The Study of Seduction by Sabrina Jeffries

Why is this character your favorite (Feel free to include a favorite quote or scene)? Since it's impossible to quote every single scene where Edwin earned his place as a Favorite Character (and book boyfriend status), a brief gushing will have to do.

So who doesn't love a stoic, grumbly hero with a heart just waiting to be claimed? I couldn't resist the brooding earl. Edwin was just begging to be on a my radar! Try as he might, Edwin couldn't get away from the part of himself that naturally took charge and cared for those who couldn't care for themselves. Like Clarissa. He was so patient and kind with her that I had no choice, no choice I tell you, but to fall completely in love with him. I tell you, Edwin Barlow OWNS me! He may not be the classic rake or the roguish charmer but he was terribly romantic in ways even he didn’t' realize and those kinds of heroes are the very best.

Book Cover/Blurb:

When Edwin Barlow, the Earl of Blakeborough, agrees to help his best friend’s impetuous ward, Lady Clarissa Lindsey, in her time of need, he knows he’s in for trouble. He’s been hunting for someone to wed, and she’ll just get in the way. Although captivated by the witty, free-spirited beauty, he fears she’d be all wrong as a wife...if she would even take such a gruff cynic for her husband. Yet he wants nothing more than to have her for his own.

Clarissa has no intention of marrying anyone—not Edwin, whom she’s sure would be an overbearing husband, and certainly not the powerful French diplomat stalking her. But when matters escalate with the diplomat, she chooses Edwin’s gallant offer of a marriage between friends in hopes that it will deter her stalker. She expects nothing more than an amiable union, but their increasingly tempestuous kisses prove more than she bargained for. When her stalker’s vow to expose the lovers’ deepest secrets threatens to destroy their blossoming attraction, will their tenuous bond withstand public ruin, or will Edwin lose all that’s important to him to protect his bride?
