He'll unlock her wildest fantasies...
Private investigator Curtis Jagger has always had a thing for Alix Harris. She was the darling of their high school—gorgeous, popular, class president...and, he suspects, just as naughty as she is nice. Now Jag has the opportunity to show her what she's missing. To show her that sometimes being bad can be sexy as hell...
Alix has always done what she's supposed to, and it's gotten her exactly nowhere. Determined to please herself—in every way possible—she accepts Jag's mysterious invitation to his ranch. In front of Jag's camera lens, Alix finds freedom far beyond her expectations. A freedom where she takes the reins and rides out every wicked desire.
But in one week, Alix will have to return to her real world where politics reign. A world that can’t include Jagger, or she’ll lose everything.
Alix always did what was expected of her and it got her nothing in return. When an invitation to a ranch comes with her name on it, she decides to do what she wants to do and accepts. When she arrives she comes face to face with a familiar person from her past.
Private Investigator Curtis “Jag” Jagger not only remembers Alix as the “it” girl in high school but also, the girl he couldn’t get out of his mind. Now she’s accepted an invitation for a week on the ranch he co-owns and he’s determined to prove to her that she can be herself around him, even if it means being a little bad in the process.
Sweet Ride takes place at the same time as the previous novellas (Slow Ride and Wild Ride respectively) but it manages to stay completely its own story while still letting readers know that it is part of a series. I definitely liked the idea that three friends got the bone headed idea to each invite the woman they think could be “the one” for them to their ranch to basically spend time together.
Sadly I didn’t enjoy Sweet Ride as much as I did the previous novellas in the series. Jag and Alix weren’t the problem, I liked their chemistry and their story but the whole thing was an example of why I normally don’t like novellas. It was way too rushed and I felt that the plot started to build up certain conflicts as if it was a full length book, only to resolve them super quick and without an ounce of believability. For a story of this length the conflict should have been something less complicated than Alix’s family.
There was plenty of heat here though and some humor but I really didn’t have time to let any of the scenes sink in before it was off to the next one, and the next one and the next.
Final Verdict: Not my favorite of the novellas and I was disappointed that the trilogy ended with such a rushed story.
