Review: Reckless Rendezvous by Eden Summers + Giveaway!

Woohoo more Reckless Beat! I'm in a state of happy/sad with this one. Happy because it's a new novella but sad because there's only one more book to go in the series and I'm so in love with these characters!

Format: .mobi (A copy of this book was provided by the publisher via NetGalley for the purpose of an honest review. )
Publisher: Self-Published
Release Date: November 16, 2015

One kiss sends Leah Gorman’s life into a tailspin.

After years sacrificing herself for Reckless Beat, Leah needs to catch her breath. She has to escape the constant chaos and revive her frayed nerves. There’s no better place than Vegas and the memory of a heavily-inked man with talented hands to make her heart palpitate for reasons other than stress. Logan is exactly what she needs right now… Or is he? Her pleasure comes at a price, and she will be left to question every aspect of her life and what her future holds.

*This novella starts straight after the events of Sultry Groove (Reckless Beat 4) and will lead you into the final book of the Reckless Beat series. *

Poor Leah, she’s done everything possible to make sure the members of Reckless Beat stay on top of the music industry without imploding on themselves. It’s a tough, thankless job for her and when the line between professional and personal is crossed, Leah runs to Las Vegas and back to a gorgeous tattoo artist who just might make her forget why she had to take a break in the first place. Only her plan backfires and Leah is left more emotionally conflicted than before.

It would be hard for some people not to judge Leah based on this novella. An event that took place in the previous book shocked her into running away from a band that is more like family than anything else. Okay so maybe they’re a dysfunctional family but they’re still a family. Reckless Rendezvous gives readers a lot think about without really revealing too much and what Eden Summers has done with this entire series is created characters who are emotionally motivated in everything they do. Good or bad, their emotions carry them off on these life altering journeys that usually come with a lot of angst and inner turmoil. In just a few short pages Reckless Rendezvous gave a clear picture of where Leah is in her life at this moment. At a crossroads.

How utterly delicious and a tad mean to tease a longtime fan with Leah’s attempt to escape her reality. From the beginning of the novella it’s clear that she’s devastated with the drastic change to the dynamic between her and a member of the band. I felt for this character, just like I have for every character in this series. Even when it’s obvious they’re making stupid decisions, they’re still so relatable. Still, a decision like Logan is pretty hard to be mad at. That man is all sorts of delicious and Eden Summers managed to breathe life into a character that was only briefly seen in Reckless Weekend. Logan needs more page time, I’m not even going to be subtle about it, I want to see this guy again and soon. He had so much going for him as a man. Kind, understanding and apparently a sex god to boot. A definite panty melter.

I don’t want to give away anything so I’m only going to say that Leah’s story just might be the most interesting since it seems she’s had some deep, hidden feelings for years that she’s not ready to deal with. You know what they say about denial and Egypt right?

While each book in the series can be read as a standalone, I don’t recommend reading Reckless Rendezvous first since I feel that the buildup to this novella added to the reading experience.

Final Verdict: Reckless Rendezvous whet my appetite for more but while I’m acting like an excited puppy waiting for a treat, I’m also sad that it’s the last book in the series. And darn you Eden Summers for forcing me to learn how to spell the word Rendezvous. It’s still kicking my butt!!!
