Favorite Character Friday

Favorite Character Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Adria's Romance Reviews that gives readers a chance to celebrate their favorite characters!

Why a weekly meme? Because really, with millions of books out there and more coming out every week, characters are like potato chips, you can't have just one.

How it works: Every week you pick one of your favorite characters and tell every one who it is, what book they're from and WHY they're one of your favorite characters. Be sure to include the blurb and book cover as well! Share the love and maybe someone will read that same book and see why that character is one of your favorites! Unlike the Book Boyfriend meme (which was a great meme), your Favorite Character Fridays choice can be male or female!

Favorite Character: Lady Anne Hayworth

Book Title & Author: Lord of Temptation by Lorraine Heath

Why is this character your favorite (Feel free to include a favorite quote or scene)? Okay so Lady Anne was a historical heroine with a dash of modern attitude. She didn’t believe her worth should be dictated by how many rich suitors she could attract or how beautiful she was considered. She was for the most part a logical thinker, not a woman prone to hysterics or manipulation. I liked her independent spirit and humor. She’s one of those heroines that doesn’t simper, whine or get terrified by every little “boo” the world throws at her. I know in historical romances women are supposed to be naïve little things but there’s a fine line between naïve and stupidly boring. Anne wasn’t boring and she certainly wasn’t stupid. She had some pretty good lines and scenes in the book but my favorite was a scene where Lady Anne is describing her experience on Tristan’s ship to her friend Sarah:

“Do you ever consider that we behave a certain way because it’s expected of us, but no one ever truly explains why we must behave as we do?”

Just that alone sold me on her. To question what was considered the norm in that time told me that she had her own mind, her own thoughts and a seed of rebellion against the way women were viewed back then.

Book Cover/Blurb:

Three young heirs, imprisoned by an unscrupulous uncle, escaped—to the sea, to the streets, to faraway battle—awaiting the day when they would return to reclaim their birthright.

Once upon a time, he was Lord Tristan Easton—now he is Crimson Jack, a notorious privateer beholden to none, whose only mistress is the sea. But all that will change when exquisite Lady Anne Hayworth hires his protection on a trip into danger and seduction. . .

Desperation brought Anne to the bronzed, blue-eyed buccaneer. But after the Captain demands a kiss as his payment, desire will keep her at his side. She has never known temptation like this—but to protect her heart, she knows she must leave him behind. Yet Tristan cannot easily forget the beauty—and when they meet again in a London ballroom, he vows he won't lose her a second time, as fiery passion reignited takes them into uncharted waters that could lead the second lost lord home. . .
