This one was quite a bit better than the previous one. Alexis is totally different to her sister Avery and I feel I connected with Alexis more even though our life goals couldn't be more different.

He's never met a challenge he couldn't take...
Alexis Yeung did everything right....only to watch everything go horribly, horribly wrong. Broken and angry, Alexis high-tails it to Europe, determined to face the world on her own terms and without consequence. Which includes a mind-blowing night with a sexy, scarred stranger.
Except, embittered former pararescuer Luke Jackson isn't exactly a stranger. He's supposed to keep an eye on Alexis without her knowing. Ending up in bed together was definitely not the plan. Now he's chasing her (admittedly hot) ass across Europe, a game of cat and mouse that always ends with the two of them tangled up in the sheets.
Something in their scarred, damaged souls calls to each other. And God help them, the sex is unbelievably hot. But if Alexis discovers who Luke really is, he'll lose the one thing that makes him feel whole...
Alexis Yeung has survived things that would have taken a lesser woman down, but she didn’t survive them unscathed. Suffering from more than just a broken engagement, Alexis runs off to Europe to regain her self confidence and take control of her life again. One night with a sexy stranger seems like the perfect way to start too, but unknown to her, the stranger isn’t just a random tourist.
Luke Jackson has his own demons to face but he’s put them on hold in order to do a favor for a friend. Keeping an eye on Alexis without her knowledge seems easy enough for the former pararescuer but when he’s near her, all logic and skills go out the window. Alexis challenges him at every turn, something Luke finds irresistible. After one night together, Luke finds himself becoming addicted to the cat and mouse game they seem to be playing as he chases her all over Europe.
Wow, I REALLY liked this one! Alexis' story was more gripping and emotionally motivated than her sister Avery's.
Big props to author Katee Robert for not only getting me interested in the Yeung sisters, but invested in their feelings and their happy endings. That’s not easy to do to! Robert took a character I had zero in common with and made her relatable on the most basic level. I couldn’t help but sympathize with Alexis’ main concern and heartbreak, even if I didn’t share her dreams of having a biological child. There was so much heartbreak involved in Alexis’ life that she deserved a happy ending with a man who could relate to her on that level of pain. More than that, though Alexis deserved to find out how strong she really was. I loved that she was made up of snark, sass and vulnerability.
While the chemistry between Luke and Alexis was smoking hot, it was the emotional healing that both went through that really sold me on the entire story. Both of them were carrying around a lot of baggage and while physical attraction is easy to have with a person, an emotional connection after suffering huge setbacks is harder. There were so many similarities on how they chose to shut down after those setbacks and how it affected their self confidence. As heavy as it could have gotten, His Lover To Protect was a smooth, easy read that I finished in about two days.
You know, I wish that there were more Yeung siblings because His Lover to Protect and its predecessor Falling for His Best Friend were sexy, fun romances that I couldn’t get enough of. While I couldn’t understand Alexis and Avery’s dad being so weak as to let his parents talk to his daughters the way they did, and I flat out detested his parents, I did love Alexis and her sister Avery’s true family that included childhood friends and showed a real level of comfort and acceptance.
Final Verdict: Yep, still wishing there were more Yeung siblings.
