About Sheri Fredricks:
Always on the hunt for the uncommon things in life, award-winning author Sheri Fredricks thrives on creating one-of-a-kind adventures.
A former engineering secretary, she lives on California’s beautiful central coast. "I wanted to move away from a profession of inflexible right angles and create an unboxed world with no boundaries." A voracious reader since her early years, Sheri found her brain crowded with stories of her own. "Ultimately," she says, "my husband encouraged me to write them all down."
Winner of the Paranormal Romance Guild Reviewer’s Choice Award and a Finalist multiple times for InD’Tale Magazine’s Reward Of Novel Excellence award (RONE), she has numerous five-star reviews everywhere eBooks are sold.
Sheri loves to spend time at home and connecting with readers. A computer hutch keeps her focused on creating stories, but the panoramic view of life on a ranch will call her outside to play in the sun.
Adria: Hi Sheri! Welcome to the blog! How is the weather where you’re at? I’m from Texas so it’s still pretty hot. Only in El Paso can you experience extreme heat, rain and harsh winds in one week! I can’t wait for winter.
Sheri: Hi Adriana! Thanks for asking me to stop by. Yeah, I hear you on the weather. Where I live on the central coast of California, the temperature was 106* during the day and in the 50’s at night. Wish we had your rain to end our drought. Feel free to send some my way. Come on El Nino!
Adria: Right now we’ve got high 90’s with a 30% chance of rain which means humidity, another enemy of mine.
Adria: I can go on and on about my weather woes but I won’t. Instead can you tell me about Monica Beggs? What is it about? Just the title alone conjures some serious giggles and interest on my part.
Sheri: This story has a mixture of sexy and sweet, along with humor and danger. It’s about former special ops man Finn Daniels who has two things on his mind: surfing and promoting his surf line business. He keeps danger in his life to a minimum and relegated to his surfboards. That is, until he meets…AVN award-winning adult film actress Monica Beggs, who unfortunately caught the head cartel’s eye.
The Colombian wants her for her on-screen talents. Finn just wants her in his life. Danger and sex can be an explosive combination. And he’ll risk all to have Monica.
Adria: Monica and Finn seem like an unlikely duo for a story but I’m sure they have some hidden parts of their personalities that just made them work. Can you tell me one thing about Monica and one thing about Finn that they would be embarrassed for others to know?
Sheri: Great question! Monica is embarrassed by her sad upbringing and a failed first career, a personal fact she keeps to herself. Finn would rather re-enlist than have his friends find out his silver screen crush was none other than the porn queen he meets.
Adria: Most embarrassing thing you’ve ever Googled or asked someone in the name of research for a book?
Sheri: I don’t know if this was embarrassing, but…Lord…I just didn’t want to be caught! I went to an adult sex shop (not in my town!!) and looked over all the different brands and types of personal lubricants. Yes, I could have done this online. But I wanted to touch, smell, and taste the differences – they have tester bottles, you know! My husband grinned the whole way there and all the way home.
Adria: I know the feeling! I’ve yet to visit a sex shop, I don’t even know if there IS one here but I would definitely go to the next STATE in order not to be caught. My curiosity is going to get the best of me with the sex shop though and I’ll probably go incognito Lol.
Adria: Part of the editing process is that unfortunately scenes get cut or have to be re-written. Is there a scene from the book you wish had been left in? Can you share it with us?
Sheri: Sometimes I write scenes out of context. If I can use them, I do. If not, they end up on the cutting room floor – like this one. This hasn’t been edited, so please excuse the dust:
Finn stood up, reached for Moni’s hand, and led her over to the side of the couch. Her spiked heels tapped the floor in a methodical beat that served to make him harder. He turned her to face away from him and placed his hand between her shoulder blades, then exerted enough pressure so she’d know to bend over the sofa’s padded arm.***And that’s all I wrote in the scene! LOL
Damn but her ass looked good with her spine arched and hips thrust up. In the ready position behind, he slowly lifted the hem of her dress until the skirt bunched around her waist. The red lace thong she wore had black accents and rode her hips like a cowboy’s lasso. Finn gripped the waist band of those ridiculous panties and in one motion, slid the fabric down to her ankles.
Smooth and silky, the soft skin of her ass glided beneath his palm. Moni wiggled her hips to entice him. He was hanging on by a hair-trigger and spanked the globe of one rounded cheek to stillher movements. The sting lingered on his fingers and he thought he might have gone too far, until she gazed over her shoulder at him.The ends of her glossed ruby lips were tipped up in a smile.
Adria: People watching can be fun and entertaining, I know I love doing it and have seen and heard some of the weirdest things. Have you ever been out and about in your everyday life and witnessed something so interesting/funny/intense that you just had to put it in one of your books? Can you share it?
Sheri: Like you, I’ve heard and observed some great public scenes over the years. I remember a time when my husband and I were in our boat at the lake. As we sat waiting at the dock for our friends to park their car, I noticed a very tan, very happy young man meeting up with his band of buddies in a wakeboard boat. In Monica Beggs, there’s a scene where Finn’s friend Captain Beano approaches the rental yacht. He’s a happy-go-lucky dude with legs that love to dance, just like the guy at the lake. Here’s a snippet of that scene:
The man in question waved when he saw them, a huge toothy grin expanding across his suntanned face. Wearing mirrored sunglasses, an obnoxious aloha shirt, board shorts and flip-flops, he kicked his heels together in a crazy type of dance before leaping the distance across from the wood planked berth and onto the yacht.
Finn pulled a pair of polarized sunspecs from the pocket of his shirt and slid them in place. Planting a wide stance to counteract the sudden rock of the boat, he stuck his hand out in greeting. “Damn, Beano. You bleach your teeth again?”
Adria: You also write paranormal romance, I’ve read Troll-y Yours for I Smell Sheep and thoroughly enjoyed it. Is there a sub-genre that you haven’t tried yet that you’d like to? Or perhaps another genre altogether? Why or why not?
Sheri: Contemporary romance, while widely read, was my venture outside the norm. I’m also publishing a twisted fairytale in November. Also outside my regular genre. I think Science Fiction romance might be interesting…maybe something in space or on another planet. I’ve always held an interest in space aliens!
Adria: That would be awesome! I haven’t read too many sci-fi romances to be honest but I DO love to watch sci-fi tv shows!
Adria: If you weren’t an author, what type of job could you envision yourself doing for the rest of your life?
Sheri: Without a doubt, it’d be working fulltime alongside my husband in one (or all) of his business ventures. He’s a contractor who trains and competes with a kennel full of border collies. We also raise “natural” meat sheep and sell to local restaurants and specialty butcher shops. I love the ranching life, though the work is never-ending and without holidays.
Adria: You had me at “Border Collies.” I’m a huge animal lover, particularly dogs.
Adria: What goes through your mind when you start and/or finish a book?
Sheri: My first thought when I start to write new story is usually along the lines of, “Oh, my gosh! I can’t wait till everyone sees this!” As I wrap the story up and hand the manuscript over to the editor, my thoughts have strayed to, “Boy and I glad that’s finished!”
Adria: Last question I promise! What are you currently working on?
Sheri: Remember where I mentioned the twisted fairytale? I’m nearly finished. Here’s the VERY FIRST sneak peek at the cover of Continuum.
Adria: Thank you Sheri for taking the time to answer a few of my questions, is there anything you would like to add?
Sheri: Sure! I’d like to thank you for inviting me here. If anyone would like to talk about writing, reading, books, horses, dogs, men, interesting or funny facts…LOL, I’m a Facebook junkie and can always be found roaming around. Come visit me!
Adria: You heard her folks! As you can see Sheri is easy to get to know and obviously very talented!
About Monica Beggs:
Monica Beggs is more than the hottest porn star out on DVD--she's Finn Daniel's next assignment.
Lights. Camera. Lube?
Famous porn star Monica Beggs has wrapped up another grueling on-location movie shoot when the Colombian cartel attempts to kidnap her. Their guns are as real as the price on her pretty head.
Former Special Ops and present day surfer, Finn Daniels recognizes a lady in distress when he sees one—especially when it’s his adult film crush being hustled out the door. He’s no longer in the business of busting up the underworld, but that doesn’t deflect his moral compass.
In a fast-paced adventure--over land, sea, and air--playing it hot and heavy can only lead them straight into action!
