Favorite Character Friday: Lord Treason!

Favorite Character Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Adria's Romance Reviews that gives readers a chance to celebrate their favorite characters!

Why a weekly meme? Because really, with millions of books out there and more coming out every week, characters are like potato chips, you can't have just one.

How it works: Every week you pick one of your favorite characters and tell every one who it is, what book they're from and WHY they're one of your favorite characters. Be sure to include the blurb and book cover as well! Share the love and maybe someone will read that same book and see why that character is one of your favorites! Unlike the Book Boyfriend meme (which was a great meme), your Favorite Character Fridays choice can be male or female!

Favorite Character: Nathaniel Stonewell aka “Lord Treason”

Book Title & Author: To Wed a Scandalous Spy by Celeste Bradley

Why is this character your favorite (Feel free to include a favorite quote or scene)? Nathaniel appeared in the previous series The Liar’s Club. He had a very interesting role in The Imposter, which was book 2 of that series. As a spy, Nathaniel knew he had to make sacrifices for the greater good but up until the end of the book I thought he was just a minor character. Until he allowed himself to be used as bait for a larger trap. Something that cost him EVERYTHING! His position in society, his respectability, his relationship with his family and his self respect.

I loved this character! He was so hell bent on doing his duty for his country that he allowed himself to be cast out. He was such a hardcore protector at heart and it showed in everything he did and said. By the time Nathaniel gets his own book, his fall from grace has taken its toll on his personality and warped his perception of himself. To Wed a Scandalous Spy finds Nathaniel to be very different than when he first appeared and his journey from disgraced man to hero is an interesting one.

Book Cover/Blurb:
Lovely, high born Willa Trent was an orphan, raised by a local, somewhat odd family in the country, who want nothing but the best for their girl. So when she drags the unconscious man she accidentally hit with a slingshot home, they arrange a hasty marriage and pack the couple off with best wishes. Armed with a groggy husband and a new future, Willa's pie-eyed optimism has no limits...until she discovers the secret, dangerous world of Nathaniel Stonewell, Earl of Reardon, a.k.a. "Lord Treason."

Though Nathaniel is reviled by most of England for his devious plot against the Crown, he is, in reality, a member of an elite cadre of secret royal defenders on a daring undercover mission. He must keep his secrets at all cost, especially from Willa. And yet, he is enchanted...though he stubbornly refuses to surrender to his passion. Far better, he tells himself, to turn his back on love than risk everything for it. Luckily, his bride has other plans...
