Can you believe there's only one more guy left in the Reckless Beat series? I can't! With Sultry Groove out already, you can bet I'll be looking forward and dreading the last book. In the meantime, can I just say how much I adored Sean? Who knew there was so much emotion hiding under that big, tough guy exterior? I've recommended this series to just about ever single one of my friends and I'm not ashamed to admit it!
Eden can’t resist alpha dominance, dark features and sarcasm in her fictional heroes and loves a strong heroine who knows when to bite her tongue but also serves retribution with a feminine smile on her face.

He wants the world and the admiration of everyone in it.
Sean Taiden, the inconspicuous drummer of Reckless Beat, is sick of living in the shadows of his bandmates’ success. He’ll do anything to gain the recognition he deserves. Even if it means dancing in a music video to the Reckless track that drives a knife into his broken heart whenever he hears it. The saving grace is the tempting choreographer who may be the one person able to distract him from the agony his life has become.
All she wants is the peace that comes with solitude.
Melody Jenkins knows all about fame. She knows enough to determine she doesn’t want a part of it anymore. After quitting her professional dance career, she set up a quiet studio and focused on starting a new beginning away from prying eyes. Until a sexy drummer strides into her life, making her crave something she can’t have while also pushing her to expose secrets she can’t bear to reveal.
Conflicting aspirations and one inextinguishable passion.
She needs to hide from the world she once owned. He wants to rise to the top, proving to himself and his friends that he’s always been the heartbeat of the band. Caught between what they need and what they want, Melody and Sean have to decide which is more important—their individual plans for the future or their feelings for one another.
As the drummer in one of the world’s most popular bands, Sean Taiden should have it all, fame, fortune and his pick of women. Instead he’s living in his band mate’s shadows as the lesser known member and nursing a broken heart after the woman he loved chose his best friend. In an attempt to gain more popularity, Sean will be one of the stars of their upcoming music video. He’ll be dancing alongside former pro dancer turned choreographer Melody Jenkins. A woman who questions his true feelings and challenges what he always believed.
Melody just wants to get away from the fame she once loved but with her new job as the Reckless Beat video choreographer; she’s forced to spend most of her time with Sean. As Sean’s popularity begins to grow, so do Melody’s feelings for him, but being with the drummer would mean she’d have to face her fears and let Sean know the reason she walked away from the spotlight.
Sultry Groove is delightfully entertaining but at the same time emotionally raw and revealing. I think that out of the entire Reckless Beat series, author Eden Summers gave fans a damn good look inside of their lives. It’s not all roses and in this one it’s not just Sean’s life that drastically changes.
Poor Sean. He put a crack in my heart at the end of Undesired Lust and full on broke it in Sultry Groove. Who knew such a big guy had such a soft heart and real insecurities. I loved this big guy and didn’t blame him for wanting his share of the fame and notoriety that Mason, Mitch, Blake and Ryan had. He worked just as hard as they did but only received a fraction of the credit and while Mason, Mitch and Blake didn’t do it intentionally, Sean didn’t need them rubbing salt in his wounds with how happily paired up they were.
Just as tortured and angst ridden as Sean, Melody had this tragic air around her. She wasn’t a doom and gloom character, in fact she was an incredibly strong if isolated woman. Experience had taught her that the only thing of importance she ever had was her perfect dancer’s physique and that without it she was less than nothing. I could certainly identify with being made to feel like less than a human being because of a few well placed but abusive remarks. It can be very scarring and damaging no matter what age. I’m still holding off on declaring her my favorite heroine of the series until Ryan’s story is out but it’s a pretty sure bet she’s a top contender.
I always know that with this series, I’m going to get exactly what I want: A little angst, a dash of humor, a handful of sass and a whole lot of passion. Sean and Melody were so good together and to be honest, that surprised me. Sean was so sure he was in love with someone else but as he spent more and more time with Melody he started to question his feelings. I appreciated that author Eden Summers didn’t immediately make Sean fall in love with Melody. He’s not that fickle. He spent a lot of time being confused but liking the fact that when he was with Melody, he felt happy and the heartbreak that plagued him didn’t seem so crushing. That gradual transition from heartbroken, bitter man to a man in love was what kept me up late. I just had to know how he and Melody would react when they learned each other’s secrets.
Any time the whole Reckless group is in the same room, there’s a guarantee of some good natured, immature ribbing and general bitching each other out over something and I truly look forward to those scenes because these guys can be so entertaining! Sultry Groove had a handful of those moments but it was clear that there was also a drastic change in one of the members. Ryan has gone from an easy going, kind man to an angry, resentful and sometimes cruel creature. Naturally that means he’s piqued my interest, but along with that interest comes a bit of sadness because he’s the last member of Reckless Beat left for Eden Summers to write about. Still, there’s that excitement to see where Ryan is going to go and who he’s going to end up with. Of course, I already have my opinion on that though.
I’ve loved every book in this series, each of the guys has brought something new to their own books and Sean was no exception. I’m hoping that he’ll have grown even more as a person and as part of a couple the next time he and the other guys make an appearance.
Final Verdict: Sultry Groove shined a spotlight on drummers everywhere ;)
