As an elite Alliance agent—the joint undercover operation of MI6, the British Secret Intelligence Service, and the CIA—Ford Decker lives for the adrenaline. But when he befriends sexy property manager Shay Alexander in hopes of finding her cousin, a known national security threat, Ford crosses the line, getting to know her better . . . in bed.

After being burned by her last relationship, Shay wants to take things slow. Yet she can't keep her hands off the drop-dead gorgeous hottie who's moved into her apartment building. So when Ford's identity as an undercover agent is exposed, his betrayal cuts deep. Shay never wants to see him again, but Ford can't let her go, not when her life is still in danger. He will sacrifice everything to protect her, then be prepared to walk away from the only woman he's ever loved, even if it breaks him.

Bring on the sexy undercover agent, the action and the sexy times, I’m totally ready!

An elite Alliance agent, Ford Decker is used to the danger and the secrecy surrounding his job. Sometimes you have to use someone in order to catch the bad guy and that’s never bothered him before. Then he goes undercover, meets property manager Shay Alexander and has to use her in order to find her cousin who has become a threat to national security. That’s when things start to get complicated.

I do love a good romantic suspense and Playing Dirty is just that, a good romantic suspense. Ford and his co-workers put the sexy in sexy undercover agents I’ll tell you that much. Ford himself is an upstanding character with a dry wit and a need to protect the innocent. He’s pretty much a candidate for stud muffin of the year. He may seem like a one dimensional guy in the beginning but almost as soon as he meets Shay he becomes conflicted, caught between a rock and a hard place. I felt bad for Ford, he had a job to do, one that could save thousands of lives yet he was quickly falling for the woman he had to use for information. He just couldn’t win either way!

I also couldn’t help feeling sorry for Shay. It’s not like she was looking for trouble or asking to be used. She just had the wrong connections at the wrong time. I understood why she was so angry when the truth came out, it doesn’t matter that Ford was trying to save innocent lives, or that he ended up falling for her for real, the bottom line was that she felt used and couldn’t trust anything or anyone for awhile. I would have dismissed her as a TSTL if she hadn’t been angry and confused.

Then there were Ford’s team mates. Wow. I haven’t found my favorite yet but I’m willing to, you know, do more “research" (ie read all the books in the series) in order to make a fair and well informed decision. It’s really no trouble at all, author HelenKay Dimon makes it so very easy to spend time with these men.

Another thing this author is good at? Building suspense. Catching the bad guy is the top priority of course but those bad guys aren’t going down easily and it turned into a nail biting experience for me when it seemed like Ford and his team were never going to find out who was villain, let alone get to them in time to stop their plans. So many near misses and “almost had them" had me clutching my e-reader tight and reading way past my bed time until I finished.

My only real complaint with Playing Dirty was that the men were the ones that got to have the most fun. As much as I love romantic suspense, I don't love seeing the heroine be the damsel in distress all the time, I want her to be a badass too! Pick up that weapon girlie and fight to survive and it's okay to save the hero once in awhile! Shay was a pretty cool heroine and while she may not have been on the same level of bad assery as Ford and his team, she does have the potential to learn a few self defense tricks from the guys.

Playing Dirty is definitely a fast paced, action packed romance and a must read for fans of romantic suspense. Ford and Shay’s story is not only passionate but at times humorous and just plain old fun! As much as I loved them, I’m anxious to read the next book and go along on the next mission

Final Verdict: I’m already ready for the next mission guys! Take me, I’m yours!
