Favorite Character Friday #8

Favorite Character Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Adria's Romance Reviews that gives readers a chance to celebrate their favorite characters!

Why a weekly meme? Because really, with millions of books out there and more coming out every week, characters are like potato chips, you can't have just one.

How it works: Every week you pick on of your favorite characters and tell every one who it is, what book they're from and WHY they're one of your favorite characters. Be sure to include the blurb and book cover as well! Share the love and maybe someone will read that same book and see why that character is one of your favorites! Unlike the Book Boyfriend meme (which was a great meme), your Favorite Character Fridays choice can be male or female!

Favorite Character: Julian Fortescue, the Duke of Denford

Book Title & Author: The Duke of Dark Desires by Miranda Neville

Why is this character your favorite (Feel free to include a favorite quote or scene)? What's not to love about a dark, brooding character who, in previous books lead readers to believe he was more villain than hero? A man who says one thing but does the complete opposite? He's a sneaky one and you're not always sure he's doing the right thing but that's what makes Julian such a fun character. And can I help it if I developed a crush on him early on? I have a thing for fictional bad boys no matter what the sub-genre of romance!

Book Cover/Blurb:

Wanted: Governess able to keep all hours . . .

Rebellious Julian Fortescue never expected to inherit a dukedom, nor to find himself guardian to three young half-sisters. Now in the market for a governess, he lays eyes on Jane Grey and knows immediately she is qualified—to become his mistress. Yet the alluring woman appears impervious to him. Somehow Julian must find a way to make her succumb to temptation . . . without losing his heart and revealing the haunting mistakes of his past.

Desired: Duke skilled in the seductive art of conversation . . .

Lady Jeanne de Falleron didn't seek a position as a governess simply to fall into bed with the Duke of Denford. Under the alias of Jane Grey, she must learn which of the duke's relatives is responsible for the death of her family—and take her revenge. She certainly can't afford the distraction of her darkly irresistible employer, or the smoldering desire he ignites within her .

But as Jane discovers more clues about the villain she seeks, she's faced with a possibility more disturbing than her growing feelings for Julian: What will she do if the man she loves is also the man she's sworn to kill?

To make things simpler, I'm taking a page from Brazen Babe's blog who took a page from Talk Supe's blog and asking that when you link up, link up with your tag link. For example, I always tag this meme as "favorite character friday" and so my tag link looks like this:

  2. Oh he totally hit all my weaknesses, that's why I just couldn't leave him out!

  3. Oh yes! Annoying dudes like you mentioned make for the best hero IMO. Like for example, Jericho Barrons was such a prick to Mac until she became priya and he just pounded her brains out! Sigh!

  4. OMG if that's your description of the relationship between those two characters, then I'm going to have to read it! What's the name of the book?
