A temporary reunion...
Newly jobless and adrift, former investment banker Kerri Wilson travels to Virginia to see her best friend and regroup, only to run into billionaire playboy Ethan Lloyd. It's been years since she's snuck out of his bed after the most amazing sex of her life, and he's so not her type--she likes them tall, dark and manageable. But he's too hot to resist, and she succumbs to another sizzling, no-strings-attached (or so she thinks) night.
Unwilling to let her go this time, Ethan makes a simple proposition: a job, a place to stay, and an exclusive affair that will end when either of them finds someone else. But with her dark, painful past catching up to her, Kerri may have to bolt again--even though her heart is telling her to stay. And Ethan's not giving her up without fighting to make their "temporary" arrangement something far more permanent...
What’s a woman to do when she’s face to face with the best one night stand she’s ever had?
Seven years after sneaking out of a hotel room, Kerri Wilson is stunned when she’s met at the airport by none other than Ethan Loyd, the best one night stand she ever had. Kerri is there to spend time with her best friend Natalie, not Ethan. He could complicate her already complicated life because Kerri has secrets that no one can ever know and she can never remain in the same place for too long, which makes dating and falling in love difficult.
Ethan never forgot Kerri or their night together, in fact, after she disappeared he tried to find her but to no avail. Now that she’s in front of him again, he realizes it’s more than just infatuation affecting him. He wants to get to know Kerri, the real woman, not the fake one she presents to the world. He doesn’t count on her secrets coming between them or on her past coming back to haunt her.
Reunited in Love, the second book in author Nadia Lee’s Heart’s on the Line series was better than its predecessor. I didn’t think I would enjoy it more than Vengeful in Love but I did. I really do like the way Nadia Lee writes billionaire men. They’re not deranged, overbearing psychopaths, they’re regular men with regular problems who just happen to be filthy rich.
I enjoyed that Ethan and Kerri had a past connection, even if it was a one night stand but the best part was that they weren’t constantly rehashing or remembering it. They treated their reunion as if it were the first time, which allowed them to build a relationship based on more than just sex. Ethan’s way of winning Kerri over definitely won me over and that’s not easy to do! He was equal parts patience, persistence and empathy. He was observant and quickly caught on to Kerri’s emotions even if he didn’t always know the reason behind her quicksilver moods.
Kerri at first seemed like a woman who complicated things beyond measure just for the hell of it and I spent most of the story wondering What was so bad about her childhood that she has to keep running away? Turns out she has a good reason to keep moving. It was interesting to see how her background and Ethan's clash and eventually become entwined. Their dynamic slowly but surely changed and I loved how the subtle shift went from a "no strings" fling to a relaxed companionship to a full blown relationship without the verbal commitment.
Final Verdict: Reunited in Love gave me just the right amount of alpha male goodness, passion and drama to keep me entertained and interested in this billionaire story. Nadia Lee's way of telling a story ensured my continued interest in her books.
