Has anyone read Avery Flynn here? I'm going to have to put her books on my "Try More" List (I'm a compulsive list maker)! I hope you enjoy my interview with Avery as well as my review of Betting the Billionaire and don't forget to enter the giveaway! One of the prizes is a $25 Amazon gift card!
A little about Avery for starters:
She fell in love with romance while reading Johanna Lindsey’s Mallory books. It wasn’t long before Avery had read through all the romance offerings at her local library. Needing a romance fix, she turned to Harlequin’s four books a month home delivery service to ease the withdrawal symptoms. That worked for a short time, but it wasn’t long before the local book stores’ staffs knew her by name.
Avery was a reader before she was a writer and hopes to always be both. She loves to write about smartass alpha heroes who are as good with a quip as they are with their *ahem* other God-given talents. Her heroines are feisty, fierce and fantastic. Brainy and brave, these ladies know how to stand on their own two feet and knock the bad guys off theirs.
Places to find Avery Flynn:
Adria: Hi Avery! I hope you don’t mind a third party sitting in on the interview, I tried to explain to him that we were going to do an interview but as you can see, he was neither impressed nor inclined to move from his favorite spot:
Adria: I’m terribly allergic to cats but that doesn’t stop me from rescuing one (or three, along with two dogs). Oh well, what are you going to do when you fall in love with a pair of big, blue eyes right?
Avery: LOL! That cat would cut you if you tried to move it. No doubt about it.
Adria: Welcome to the blog Avery! This is your first time visiting so can you tell me a bit about yourself?
Avery: Sure! I’m the over-caffeinated mom of three who is married to a hockey-addicted husband and who lives vicariously through all her heroines—even though in real life I can’t change my own oil and my character Keisha restores cars as a hobby.
Adria: I’m going to confess that up until I read Betting the Billionaire, I wasn’t familiar with your work. Can you tell me and other readers who may not be familiar with your work a little about what you write?
Avery: For shame! Twenty extra kitty pets for you! :) I write sexy, sassy romance with a wicked sense of humor. My heroes are a talented at making quips as much as they are their other *ahem* God-given talents. My heroines are fierce, feisty and fun. From straight contemporary to romantic suspense to paranormal, I love to write it all.
Adria: In Betting the Billionaire your heroine Keisha knows her way around a car, which is not as common as it should be (in my opinion), what made you decide to make her the automobile guru instead of Gabe?
Avery: I would love to be handy when it comes to cars, but alas I’m not. Plus I really wanted Keisha to have a hobby that forced her to work with her hands.
Adria: Any plans on expanding on the world you created for Gage and Keisha? Perhaps a series or is Betting the Billionaire just going to be a standalone story?
Avery: Oh, this is just your first glimpse at Salvation, Virginia. Late this summer, you’ll get to meet the eldest of the Sweet triplets in Enemies on Tap. Plus, fans of High-Heeled Wonder (which came out in January 2014) already know Gabe’s cousin, Carlos.
Adria: What kind of environment do you write best in? Do you listen to music to inspire you and if so, what is your favorite music to listen to while you write?
Avery: We just moved into a new house and I finally have an office with a door! The glory of it! I usually write in the quiet, unless it’s the black moment. That always gets music.
Adria: I’m assuming that you have some free time once in a blue moon, what hobbies do you enjoy? Any favorite tv shows or movies that you just can’t live without?
Avery: I am a Supernatural junkie. And back off everyone, Dean Winchester is MINE! I love Game of Thrones and Project Runway too. Plus, there aren’t enough books in the world to make me happy. :)
Adria: How about favorite romance authors/books? What romance novel(s) can you read over and over again and never get tired of?
Avery: I have a ton of favorites: Lori Foster, Dakota Cassidy, Cherry Adair and I can’t forget my partners in crime Robin Covington and Kimberly Kincaid.
Adria: What are you currently working on?
Avery: I’m finishing up the third book in the Killer Style series and (fingers crossed) there will be even more in that series. Then I’ve got the third book in the series that takes place in Salvation to finish up. Lots of fun stuff in the pipeline!
Adria: Thanks for stopping by Avery, is there anything else you’d like to say?
Avery: Send Oreos. No, I’m not kidding. I’m an addict.
You heard it here my friends, start sending Avery those Oreos! Lol.

If that man calls her one more time…
So what if Gabe Campos is a model-dating billionaire who gets Keisha Jacobs hotter than a Ferrari’s engine on the straightaway? He keeps pushing her to sell her family’s furniture business, but she’ll never give in—not unless she wants to give her father a second heart attack.
All Gabe should be thinking about is how he’ll finally get revenge on the man who killed his father. But when he meets the man’s daughter, Keisha, instead of focusing on destroying Jacobs Fine Furnishings, he can’t get her warm-whisky voice out of his mind.
Forced by a snow storm to spend the night together, their passion ignites. The next day, however, it’s back to business. The only way Keisha can save her family is to win a bet with the billionaire. But neither realized their hearts are part of the bargain…
Well who would have thought that the furniture making industry could be the setting for such a sexy romance? Not me that’s for sure!
I really enjoyed Avery Flynn’s Betting the Billionaire. It was a quick, fun read that didn’t skip out on the sexy goodness between the characters. There was a lot of sexual tension between Gabe and Keisha as well as some great snarky moments.
Keisha was car savvy, Gabe, not so much, he was totally useless when it came to cars but that didn’t dim his masculine vibe one bit. In fact, it gave this otherwise flawless man a vulnerable side, a weakness that made him more likable. Plus, the role reversal helped define who they were and the differences in their upbringings. Whereas Gabe had almost everything handed to him, Keisha has had to work hard to get where she is and given that she is her father’s only child, she has had to be both daughter and son which meant working with her hands. Alot.
I did have to wonder though, how someone like Gabe, that is supposed to be so smart as to become a self made millionaire could be so stupid as to jump to conclusions when all he had was a handful of facts. I guess his arrogance got the best of him. Still, Gabe isn’t so arrogant to where he can’t admit he made a mistake.
The chemistry between the two characters was super sexy and I enjoyed that Gabe and Keisha had a strong attraction going way before they even met in person. Keisha may have known what Gabe looked like but Gabe had no idea what Keisha looked like. When they finally do meet, the sexual tension goes through the roof.
I enjoyed the plot, the characters, really I can't find any reason to complain about Betting the Billionaire!
Final Verdict: A romance in the furniture industry may not sound like much but Avery Flynn made it seem like every story should take place among wood and handmade pieces of art.
