Book Blind Date #37
Book Blind Date is something that Danielle from Book Whore Blog and I decided to start after seeing a Facebook post on the Lawrence Public Library Page about a book blind date. This really got us thinking, what if the only thing you new about a book was what the story was about? No character names, no pretty covers to suck you in.
Here's how it works, you know the old saying never judge a book by its cover? Well you won't be able to, for this meme you are going to decide which book you would go on a "date" with based on the synopsis. Names and identifying phrases are removed just to make things fair. The only rule is: No Googling the synopsis, you have to pick a "date" based on what you read below.
Last Week's Blind Dates:
Blind Date #1
Desperate to escape his mother’s matchmaking, V****** H***, Viscount D*******, flees to a remote country village. But even there, another marital trap is sprung. So when Miss S***** F**’s intervention on his behalf finds her unceremoniously booted from her guardian’s home, V****** is compelled to act. He may have been blinded in battle, but he can see a solution to both their problems: marriage.
At first, quiet, unassuming S***** rejects V******’s proposal. But when such a gloriously handsome man persuades her that he needs a wife of his own choosing as much as she needs protection from destitution, she agrees. Her alternative is too dreadful to contemplate. But how can an all-consuming fire burn from such a cold arrangement? As friendship and camaraderie lead to sweet seduction and erotic pleasure, dare they believe a bargain born of desperation might lead them both to a love destined to be?
Blind Date #2
L******* D*****, the notorious Duke of V******, must wed quickly and nobly—and his choices, alas, are few. The Duke of Montague's daughter, E******, is exquisitely beautiful and fiercely intelligent. V****** betroths himself to her without further ado.
After all, no other woman really qualifies. L******, the outspoken daughter of the Duke of Gilner, cares nothing for clothing or decorum. She's engaged to another man, and doesn't give a fig for status or title. Half the ton believes L****** mad—and V****** is inclined to agree.
Torn between logic and passion, between intelligence and imagination, V****** finds himself drawn to the very edge of impropriety. But it is not until he's in a duel to the death, fighting for the reputation of the woman he loves, that V****** finally realizes that the greatest risk may not be in the dueling field . . .
But in the bedroom. And the heart.
