Cat Thursday: Nom nom?

Welcome to the weekly meme hosted by The True Book Addict that celebrates the wonders and sometime hilarity of cats!

Join us by posting a favorite LOL cat pic you may have come across, famous cat art or even share with us pics of your own beloved cat(s). It's all for the love of cats! Enjoy!

Now that I know how to use Pinterest, I'm there ALL THE TIME looking up the strangest things to pin. One of my favorite things to look for is "Funny cat (or dog) pictures" and that can amuse me for hours! One of the coolest things I've seen is a photo montage of a cat eating (and liking) a Popsicle.

First of all, this cat reminds me of Toothless the dragon from How to Train Your Dragon (one of the best movies about judging people/animals without knowing them) in that last picture. It's such a cute set of photos and I haven't been able to get it out of my mind since I saw it.

Second, it had me thinking about the strange things my cats, past and present have eaten. My earliest recollection is back when I was about 7 years old. I had a black and white cat named Robin and he would eat ketchup if you didn't watch yourself. Yup, I found that out when I was getting some for my fries and he jumped up on the counter and started eating it.

Then there's Spencer. He is so food motivated! He doesn't know what you're eating at the time but he knows he wants it and now! That's his attitude all the time. Now he's gotten into his fair share of food related trouble. As a baby, he climbed into a cold pot of chicken soup and took out a chicken breast that was as big as he was.

As an adult he has stuck his paw in a cooled off pan of re-fried beans and liked them so much that when I pulled him away he grabbed the pan handle and almost dumped them on the floor. Recently my mom made herself a cup of Maple Oatmeal and while we had our backs turned for 5 seconds he scrambled up on the chair, put his front paws on the table, stuck his face in her cup and started eating her oatmeal!

I have a full time job keeping Spencer away from food. His food has to be put in child proof containers because he opens them!

  1. Heh those are cute! Pinterest is so addictive. My herd is like Spencer. They LIVE for food. And they'll eat it all. Lettuce, ketchup, lemon juice or balsamic vinegar, string cheese--they go absolutely ape over it. They'd probably get along great with your boy. lol

  2. I pictured your herd and my Spencer and I almost cried from fear. Lol, I don't think a house would survive them for 24 hours. Just yesterday we had an "incident" with Spencer involving a large house plant, kitchen towels and a bag of potting soil in only 4 minutes. Needless to say, 24 hours later and I'm STILL cleaning soil out from between his naughty toes. That's why he has to sleep in a room with the door closed. No one would get any sleep and things would break in the middle of the night. As it is at 3 a.m. he goes bonkers in the room, we can hear him crashing into the closet door and making his trademark noises as he does zoomies around the room.
